What OTLE does

OTLE searches documents selected by the user and helps locate relevant codes, descriptions, paragraphs and safety information using natural-language queries.

Local document processing

Document parsing and searching are performed in the browser. Licence validation communicates activation and installation data with the licensing service. DOCX/PDF parsing libraries may be loaded from external CDNs.

All rights in third-party documents and source data remain with their respective owners.

OTLE adapts its tools to the active document. Specialist options appear only when the selected source supports them.

Documents & Search Sources

Load PDF, DOCX, XLSX/XLS, TXT, CSV and JSON documents.
Keep multiple documents available in one session.
Select the active search source from the left sidebar.
Switch between already indexed sources without reloading them.
Fast Indexing uses parallel PDF page extraction, a narrative-document fast path for large general PDFs, and lazy paragraph indexing for structured sources.
Vendor-neutral structured codes support numeric and alphanumeric identifiers (for example 123456, ABC-101 or A1020) when present in the user-selected source.
Lock up to 10 documents on this device for future use.
Remove loaded documents with the × control in the sidebar, beside the active document summary, or directly beside the selected file name under Search; removing the last active document returns Search to a clean no-document state. Locked copies require confirmation before deletion.

Smart Search

Search using natural language, questions, keywords or exact codes.
Use optional reference libraries to map familiar wording to codes while keeping the active document as the only final result source.
Lock up to 5 reference libraries on this device so they restore automatically in future sessions.
Matching percentages are relevance aids: broad searches are calibrated by lexical coverage and relative ranking, while 100% is reserved for exact code lookup; reference-assisted matches use the reference wording score.
Reference routing prioritizes exact and punctuation-insensitive phrase matches before fuzzy matches, and can follow additional literal codes written inside a reference description.
Search in English, Romanian, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese.
Romanian everyday decorating terms such as “de văruit” / “de varuit” are interpreted as painting/decorating intent while final results remain grounded in the active source.
Generic room-door, wallpaper-removal / “tapet de scos”, plywood thickness wording such as “6 mm plywood”, and flat/apartment decorating intent are normalized for structured search; complete compound-intent matches receive stronger ranking and calibrated relevance while OTLE still returns only wording present in the active source.
Receive source-based search suggestions while typing.
Highlighted terms make relevant wording easier to identify.
Search suggestions safely handle sources that do not provide a suggestion list.
Results stay grounded in the currently selected source.

Universal Saved supports structured codes and document passages.
Optional notes can be added to saved items.
Projects can contain collections and folders for local organisation.
Smart Copy formats structured and document results with source details.
Filter current results without re-running the search.
Recent Searches now retain source/mode context and up to 20 entries, with a compact scrollable panel so results appear sooner.
Drag & Drop lets you open supported documents directly by dropping them onto the Search card.
PDF, DOCX, XLSX/XLS, CSV, JSON and TXT can be loaded as ordinary Active Search Sources; Excel files can also be used as Reference Libraries.
Active Search Source stays synchronised between the sidebar, source banner, selected-file control and document summary, with Remove × controls available from the sidebar and directly beside the selected file under Search.
Search highlighting marks literal and interpreted source terms in yellow, including multilingual concept matches.
Show Context expands nearby paragraphs around document matches.
Compare Documents runs the same query against two loaded sources while keeping each side source-grounded.
Custom Dictionary adds local wording aliases for query interpretation only; it never creates codes.

Saved Results

Save individual structured results using the star icon.
Saved appears automatically after a code or document passage is saved.
Review saved items independently of the current search.
Export selected Saved items through Advanced Saved Export with an optional report title.

Security Hardening (v2.64 Beta)

Server-side request throttling protects activation, licence checks and feedback against excessive repeated requests.
Feedback submissions are server-bounded by total request size, screenshot payload size and diagnostics size before storage processing.
Report an Issue is available directly below Licence in the left navigation; it captures the user-selected OTLE tab/window and attaches the image to Feedback, with preview/remove/retake controls.
General PDF documents are routed to Document Search even when incidental dates, page numbers or other numeric tokens are present.
Document Search includes a literal source-text fallback for exact words and phrases, and detects image-only/scanned PDFs instead of reporting a misleading successful index.
Device limits and device removal are enforced by the licence server; a removed installation is no longer silently re-authorised during licence checks.
Device registration rejects inactive or expired licences and rejects a user/device registration that does not belong to the licence.
Administrative and owner-protected actions remain server-validated.
OTLE database tables and internal routines are backend-only: anonymous and authenticated clients have no direct table, legacy-view or routine access.
Current and compatibility activation/check endpoints use the same hardened device authorisation rules.
External document-parsing libraries are version-pinned and protected with Subresource Integrity; unapproved dynamic scripts are blocked, and the PDF worker is integrity-verified before execution.
A restrictive Content Security Policy limits scripts, network connections, workers, images and embedded content to the sources OTLE actually needs; the integrity-verified PDF worker blob is explicitly permitted for local-file PDF.js fallback.
Executable inline blocks are authorised by exact SHA-256 CSP hashes; HTML inline event handlers are removed and script-src no longer permits unsafe-inline.
Security builds fail closed if inline event attributes, dynamic code evaluation, the Function constructor or string-based timers are detected.
Owner-protected administration uses the migrated Argon2id password verifier in the server-side control path; the legacy Owner SHA-256 verifier is no longer stored.

Backup / Restore exports local productivity data without source documents or licence credentials.
Keyboard Shortcuts provide quick access to Search, Saved and the Universal Command Bar.
The Universal Command Bar opens common OTLE tools from one place.
Advanced Saved Export lets you choose individual saved items and add an optional report title.
Privacy & Data explains what is stored locally and what communicates with external services.
Search Feedback lets you mark a result Helpful or Not helpful and stores that rating locally for later diagnostics.
The optional local User Greeting can be changed or removed in Settings.
Pin Results is optional and can be enabled or disabled in Settings; pins are temporary for the current session.
Search Selected Text lets you highlight wording inside a document result and search that wording again in the active source.
Workspace Statistics summarise session documents, Saved items, projects, references, recent searches and feedback.

Tags let you label Saved items with your own optional keywords for easier organisation.
Active Source Change Warning clearly confirms when the selected search source changes.
Back / Forward Search Navigation lets you move between searches from the current session without losing the query trail.
Feedback & Support submits structured bug reports, feature requests, search issues, questions and improvements directly to the OTLE support backend, with optional screenshots and explicit privacy controls. Successful submissions receive an OTLE ticket reference.
The lower format strip is now source-neutral and lists every file format supported anywhere in OTLE: PDF, DOCX, TXT, CSV, JSON, XLSX and XLS.
PDF Table Reconstruction (Beta) preserves visual rows and column spacing when reading structured PDFs, so code, type, wording, unit and rate stay grouped instead of being flattened into one line.

Theme choice is stored locally and restored automatically.
Optionally set a local display name for a personalised greeting beside the OTLE version; change or remove it later in Settings.
Hover over supported controls to see contextual help explaining what each action does, without changing the normal mouse cursor.

Locked documents are stored locally on the current browser/device.
Saved items and recent searches are kept locally for convenience.
Licence status and activation details are available from the Licence tab.
Device-based licensing limits one activation key to the authorised number of PCs; device slots are managed from OTLE Admin Manager.
